Preparing for a telephone or online consultation

Our handy resource includes tips from patients and healthcare professionals to help you get the most out of your appointment.

Phone appointments are much more commonplace today. We know it can be overwhelming to talk through your concerns over the phone. Especially if you’re talking about something like psoriasis, you may feel like your GP needs to see you to understand the full picture.

But you can still have a positive appointment online or over the phone, and our resource teaches you how. It covers:

What to do in advance of your appointment Telephone appointment resource

  • Information and questions to write down
  • Where to take the call, and which number the GP will call from
  • Any arrangements you may need to before the call (such as an interpreter)
  • How to show/describe your psoriasis accurately over the phone

During the appointment

  • What the GP will say to you
  • Questions you may need to answer, and how to answer them
  • Making the appointment feel like a two-way conversation
  • How to end the call with a clear set of next steps

You can download the information sheet on our website. We also have other resources that may be useful ahead of your appointment.
